It’s already February, and after a January’s cold weather, we can only hope we have a warm February like we had in December. Personally, I like the December temperatures much better. But January also brings the annual International Builder Show which was again this year in sunny Las Vegas. Estimates were that 75,000 people attended this year’s event. If you have never been to a show, I strongly recommend you go to next year’s show in Orlando. Whether learning about new products coming to market or expanding your education by taking a class, there is so much to do and see. Several members of our association attended and I must say that I think everyone had a good time!
This year we are trying something new by only having a limited number of general membership meetings. Our first meeting this year will be Thursday February 18th at Ruffled Feathers in Lemont and will feature Pat Rea. Pat has a multitude of experiences on his resume. Pat is a retired army reserve Brigadier General, served 37 years as village trustee, and was former chairman of the Economic & Development Committee of Orland Park. Make your reservations by calling the office, space will fill up fast to see Pat. He’s always a fan favorite!!
We have strength in numbers and will continue to promote membership in 2016. So if any of our members would like to bring a former SSHBA builder member or potential builder member to the February 18th General Membership Meeting, the association will pay for their ticket to attend.
The association will be having a Sales & Marketing breakfast on March 3rd featuring Beverly Koehn. She will speak about improving your business and customer service. She has also spoken at the International Builder Show as well, so call the office and make your reservation.
Also the annual Harrah’s Raffle Party will be in Joliet on April 15th. As current ticket sales champion, I am going to have something fun to challenge all the top ticket sellers this year to this great event. It’s going to be called Beat The President. Not literally, but in ticket sales. Stay tuned for more details in next month’s newsletter.
The spring building season is right around the corner. But the attacks on our industry is a year round event. If you hear of anything negative to our industry going on at any of our local municipalities make sure you call the office and our Government Affairs Committee can try and help out. You the members are our best eyes and ears out there.
Thanks for listening, stay warm and GO HAWKS!!
